
Travis Avant
Travis leads Compass South’s appraisal division and is a Certified General Appraiser in multiple states. He has ample experience appraising multiple types of commercial and recreational properties, timberland, and farmland. He is an Accredited Senior Appraiser with the American Appraisal Society and is a designated ARM-RP. He is also a designated Senior Appraiser with the International Right-A-Way Association, a General Review Candidate of the Appraisal Institute, and a designated Accredited Buyers Representative with the Local and National Realtor Association. Prior to forming Compass South, Travis served two terms as Sheriff of Colleton County, SC, then joined the South Carolina Law Enforcement Division as as an investigator. Travis is a graduate of the F.B.I. National Academy and received his bachelor’s degree from the University of South Carolina.

Brittany Avant
Brittany is a South Carolina Certified General Appraiser who focuses on commercial and recreational properties in the Charleston Tri-County area. Prior to her appraisal career, she was a grants manager with the South Carolina Department of Commerce. Brittany holds B.A. in Business Administration from Furman University, a Master’s Degree in International Business from the University of South Carolina, and is an affiliated member of the Appraisal Institute.

JC Callahan
JC is a Georgia Licensed Appraiser who focuses on agricultural and commercial properties in Southeast Georgia. He is a member of the Seven Rivers RC&D, Satilla Cattlemen’s Association, and Georgia Young Farmers. Prior to joining the Compass South Appraisals team, JC was an ag lender with AgSouth Farm Credit, where he worked with realtors, individuals, and investors to facilitate numerous land transactions on both large and small property types. JC received his Diversified Agriculture degree from Abraham Baldwin Agriculture College.

Jennifer Dean
Jennifer is a Certified General Appraiser in both North and South Carolina. In addition, she is an affiliated member of the National Appraisal Institute and Local Realtors Association. She has been affiliated with Compass South Appraisals since the company was formed. Jennifer has considerable experience appraising many property types, but specializes in improved commercial properties. Prior to joining the Compass South Appraisals team, Jennifer worked for Rhodes Oil Company. She received her Bachelor of Arts degree from the University of South Carolina.

Mike Kelly
Mike is a South Carolina Real Estate Appraiser who focuses on commercial, industrial, and recreational properties in the Upstate of South Carolina. Prior to joining the Compass South Appraisals team, he worked as an Assistant Vice President with NationsBank, then spent 25 years serving as a Special Agent for the FBI. Mike received a Bachelor of Science in Business Administration from the College of Charleston and is a graduate of the South Carolina Bankers School.

Thomas Kirby
Thomas is a South Carolina Certified General Appraiser who has experience appraising commercial, industrial and agricultural properties. He specializes in timberland appraisals ranging from small recreational tracts to large, institutionally owned timberland packages. He is a member of the Society of American Foresters and the Abbeville County Forest Landowners Association. Thomas received both his Wildlife and Fisheries Biology Degree and Master of Forest Resources Degree from Clemson University.

Billy Nelson
Billy is a Real Property Appraiser and Registered Forester in Georgia, where he is also a member of the Georgia Forestry Association. Prior to joining Compass South Appraisals team, he worked for the Georgia Forestry Commission as a District Manager. Billy received his Forest Management degree from Auburn University.

Erin DeAntonio
Erin is an Appraiser Trainee who focuses on commercial and recreational properties in the Pee Dee and Coastal counties of South Carolina. Prior to her appraisal career, Erin worked in sales and project management for an international distributor. She holds a Bachelor of Science in Business Administration with a Marketing Concentration from the College of Charleston.

Steve Riley
Steve is a South Carolina Real Estate Appraiser who is pursuing his Certified General Real Estate Appraiser License and is an affiliated member of the Appraisal Institute. Prior to joining Compass South Appraisals, Steve served as Town Manager for the Town of Hilton Head Island, where he was responsible for the Town’s Land Acquisition Program, acquiring over 1,300 acres for recreation and open space protection. In addition, he was responsible for property and right-of-way acquisition for other capital projects, roads, pathways, and drainage improvements. From 2004 to 2015, Steve served as Chairman of the Beaufort County Rural and Critical Lands Advisory Board, which reviews parcels and advises County Council on properties and conservation easements to acquire for conservation, open space, and passive recreation purposes. Steve holds a B.A. in Geography from the University of Nebraska-Lincoln and an M.A. in Urban and Regional Planning from the University of Iowa.

Austin Rizer
Austin is a Certified General Appraiser in both South Carolina and Georgia. He has extensive experience appraising various property types, including improved commercial properties, but primarily focuses on agricultural properties. Austin is an affiliated member of the Appraisal Institute and holds a degree in Applied Economics and Statistics from Clemson University.

J. Marshall West
Marshall is a South Carolina Certified General Appraiser and a designated member of the Appraisal Institute. In 2019, he received the MAI and SRA designations. Marshall is a member of the South Carolina Professional Appraisers Coalition, where he currently serves as a Board member and Co-Chair of the Legislative Committee. Marshall received his Business Administration degree from The Citadel.

Sally Walker
Sally is a licensed realtor who serves as Office Manager for Compass South, Inc. Prior to joining our team, she worked at Copper Station Holdings. Sally received her Environmental Science Degree from Colby-Sawyer College in New London, NH.
